Obituary for Joseph M. Himchak

Joseph M. Himchak of Jessup died Wednesday August 31, 2016 at the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, the former Julia Horvat who died in 1980.

Born in Jessup, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Kolessar Himchak. A graduate of Jessup High School, he proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Poloron Products and Ramsey Co. He was a member of American Legion – Michael Steiner Post #411 in Jessup and of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church.

Joseph was a kind, gentle man with a huge heart. He also always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV, especially the Philadelphia Professional Sports Teams. He always put his family first and took care of their needs before his own. The family would like to thank Dr. Susan Biancarelli, Dr. Bria Tinsley, and Dr. James Loomis along with the nurses and staff at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care they showed him.

Surviving are a son Joseph A. Himchak, Jessup; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister Margaret Frenak and brother Michael J. Himchak.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, First Avenue, Jessup celebrated by Msgr. John T. Sekellick Interment, parish cemetery, Jessup.

Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Parastas service will be at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 313 First Ave., Jessup, 18434.
