Obituary for Robert A. Giombetti

Robert A. Giombetti
Robert A. Giombetti, 80, a lifelong resident of Jessup, died peacefully on Friday afternoon. Despite metastatic kidney cancer for over a decade and a recent stroke, he fiercely battled his illness to the end. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice Hillier Giombetti.

He was the son of the late Leno and Margaret “Peggy” Washo Giombetti, and was a graduate of Jessup High School and the Penn State University. Bob was a founding partner in GSGSB, an internationally acclaimed architectural and engineering firm with office in Chinchilla, New York, Paris, and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Although he achieved international success in business with projects worldwide for companies including IBM, Revlon, Nabisco and others on the Fortune 500 list and the 1986 Statue of Liberty Centennial Renovation, his greatest accomplishment was his 4 children and 10 grandchildren.

He was an avid Penn State, Duke and Valley View High School fan, a longtime member of Elkview Country Club and a founding member of the Club 100 in Jessup.

Bob’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lisa Thomas, Dr. Wayne Weston, and his #1, #2, and #3 along with the entire staff at the Green Ridge Healthcare Center for all of their compassionate care.

Besides his wife Alice, he is survived by his sister Mary Lynn O’Donnell, Jessup; son Dr. Robert J. Giombetti and wife Lisa, Mar Vista, California, and their children Matthew and Erin; daughters Attorney Kim Giombetti, Peckville, and her daughters Maia, Lanie, and Ava, Kara Schermerhorn and husband Attorney Scott Schermerhorn, Archbald, and their children Madison, Morgan, and Greyson, and Dina Giombetti with whom Robert resided, and her daughters Tori and Allie.

The funeral will be conducted Tuesday from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Queen of Angels Parish in St. Michael's Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Jessup. Everyone attending the funeral is asked to proceed directly to church. Friends and family may call Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
