Andrew Zwanch, 89, a lifelong resident of Jessup, and a resident of Scranton Manor for the past 3 years died Sunday morning at
Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife, Frances Novajosky Zwanch,
died in January 2009.
Son of the late Peter and Rose Renowitz Zwanch, he was educated in Jessup
public schools and graduated from Lackawanna Business School. He was an Army
veteran of World War II and a
member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Olyphant.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Andy enjoyed golfing, hiking in the woods and trips with his wife to
the casino. He also enjoyed meeting "The Gang" at Burger King in Eynon
where he had supper and they all discussed the problems of the day.
Surviving are his son Andrew V. and his wife Cheryl Zwanch, Scranton;
4 grandchildren: James C. and wife Karen Zwanch, Wytheville, VA, Jason M.
and wife Claire Cochrane Zwanch, New York City, David and wife Lisa Zwanch,
Old Forge, and Amanda Zwanch, Scranton; 3 great-grandchildren: James D.,
William M., and Farrah Zwanch; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son David A. Zwanch; 2 sisters: Mary
Cherochak Franchak and Ann Dykun; and 4 brothers: John "Bennie",
Michael "Lemons", Patrick P., and Stephen Zwanch.
The funeral will be Wednesday morning with a parastas service at 10:00 A.M.
in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church Street, Jessup, to be
celebrated by Rev. Nestor Iwasiw. Interment to follow with Military Honors
in St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville.
Relatives & Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until
service time.
