Patricia A.  Munley-Cerda
Patricia A. Munley-Cerda, 75, of Jessup passed away Friday, March 10, 2017 at home following a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving husband of 37 years, Jose Luis Cerda, and close family members who never left her side.
Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late John J. “Jack” and Geraldine Albini Munley, she was a graduate of Jessup High School Class of 1957 and received a degree from Lackawanna Junior College.
After graduation, Patti served as an Executive Secretary for the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. She received numerous Exceptional Performance Awards. She served two years in South Korea and in Germany and three years in Mexico City where she met her husband Luis. She traveled on numerous TDY’s including Thailand, Japan and Burma. She retired from the government in 1992 and received an Award for Career Achievement and Honorable Service with the State Department. After retiring in Washington, D.C., she and her family moved back home to Jessup. She was employed at Marywood University as the Executive Secretary to the Vice President for University Advancement for 22 years.
She was a member of the Society of Irish Women, Citizens for a Healthy Jessup and Queen of Angels Parish.
Patti was one of a kind who always put others’ needs before her own, full of energy and always on the go. She was the life of the party everywhere she went. She lit up every room with her smile and bubbly personality, a true angel with a heart of gold. Patti was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Patti’s strength and courage were an inspiration to all.
She is survived by her two daughters, Antonia Cerda-Bevan and husband Jason, Archbald, Elena Cerda and fiancé Chris Durmiaki, Peckville; grandchildren Madeline and Charlotte Bevan who lovingly called her “Donni”; brothers Judge Tom Munley and wife Jodean, Bob Munley and wife Gloria, Joe Munley and wife Renee, all of Jessup; sister-in-law Carol Munley, Jessup; Uncle William Munley, Archbald; Aunts Tillie Albini and Judy Munley, both of Jessup; beloved canine bestie Bella Pink Chanel; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by brother, Jack Munley.
The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, March 14 at 8:30 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Queen of Angels Parish in St. Michael's Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup. Friends and family may call Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Society of the Little Flower, 1313 N. Frontage Rd. Darien, IL 60561.
