Martha “Martie” Heffron, 93, of Olyphant died Thursday September 29, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Joseph J. Heffron Jr., who died on June 2, 2000. At the time of his passing they were married for 50 years.

Born in Olyphant, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Parillo)Krasko, she was a graduate of Olyphant High School.

Martie dedicated her life to her family. For most of her married life she chose to be a homemaker and lovingly care for her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. Even near her end on this earth, hearing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren enter her house brought a light to her eyes and smile to her face.

Surviving are daughter, Rosemary Takacs and husband John Jr., Olyphant; son Joseph F. Heffron III and wife Ann Marie, Madison Twp.;
grandchildren Christine Dunn, Brian Takacs and companion Jaime Parry, Joseph Heffron and companion Brittany Baker, Matthew Heffron and wife Megan; great-grandchildren Madyson, Mason, and Michael Heffron, Collin Birtel, Ava and Alyx Takacs; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 4 brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick’s Church, 200 Delaware St., Olyphant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Blakely. Friends and family may pay their respects Tuesday morning from 9 am until Mass time. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
