Obituary for Robert D. "Monty" Montgomery Sr.

Robert D. “Monty” Montgomery Sr. of Jessup died Saturday October 8, 2016 at the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. His wife of over 51 years is the former Barbara Annett.
Born in Detroit, Michigan he was the son of the late Raymond G. Sr., and Annisbelle Heiob Montgomery. Educated in Detroit schools, he proudly served in the United States Army and prior to his retirement he was employed in the plating department at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Monty was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid golfer. He was a great story teller and prankster. He was a member of the VFW Post #5544 and bartended there for years along with tending bar at The Library in Jessup. Monty always thought of everyone else and was always willing to give a helping hand. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are a daughter April Clover and husband Robert, Peckville; son Robert Montgomery Jr., Jessup; grandchildren Jeff and Taunee Werts; brothers Raymond Jr., Richard Sr., and Thomas; sister Judith Sublet. several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home 1003 Church St. Jessup with Rev. Arthur W. Davis, as officiating clergy.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
