Veronica A. Danyo, 95, of Jessup died Friday December 16, 2016 at the Lackawanna Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow of the late John Danyo who died on June 27, 2005.
Born in Jessup on May 12, 1921 to the late John and Anna Takach Onda, she was a graduate of Jessup High School, Class of 1939. She worked in the Barbizon in Jessup until she met her husband John who was the love of her life. They owned and operated the Variety Store in Jermyn. Veronica and her husband both loved to go polka dancing in Dickson City on Fridays. Veronica was proud of her Slovak heritage, and was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Jessup and their Altar & Rosary Society. She was a loving and honest person who was devoted to her niece Martha Augustine of Throop, her nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Martha took very good care of her auntie.
Veronica’s family would like to thank all her care givers who assisted her during her stay at the Lackawanna Health & Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Linda Thomas, Sister Maureen, also Barbara Tallo, caretakers, and neighbors along with Traditional Home Care.
Surviving are nieces and nephews: Martha and Michael Augustine, Andrew Augustine, Gregory and Jane Augustine and children Madilyn and James, John and Shirlee Onda, Leigh, James, Jordan, and Gia Baldan, Kim and George Atkinson, Lee, Lisa, Olivia, Giuliana, and Jacob De Angelis; brothers-in-law Michael Danyo and Dr. Joseph Danyo and their families.
She was preceded in death in death by sister Mary and brother John.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Queen of Angels Parish in St. Michael’s Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Jermyn.
