Mary Ann Angeloni of Jessup died Friday March 31, 2017 at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a courageous 30 year battle with progressive Multiple Sclerosis. She and her devoted loving husband, Marino, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this coming August.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Alex J. and Domenica “Nellie” Fortese Rovinsky. She was a graduate of Blakely High School Class of 1962. After raising a family, she attended weekend classes at Keystone Junior College, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1994. She then graduated from Marywood College Cum Laude in 1997 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education & English. She attained the lifelong goal of becoming a teacher. She was a true educator, working for many local school districts as a classroom teacher, homebound teacher, and tutor. She was forever willing to offer guidance, or even quick-witted and well intentioned advice to anyone who would listen.
Mary Ann was a woman of extremely strong faith and everything she did had a religious or spiritual influence . She attended the Religious Education Institute through the Diocese of Scranton. She was a former member of St. Mary’s Assumption Church in Jessup and their Altar & Rosary Society. She also taught CCD for decades. She was a volunteer promoter for Fatima Travel, organizing regular religious retreats for children and adults to Europe.
But above all, her greatest love was her four grandsons, with whom she’d frequently discuss school, especially English classes. She thoroughly enjoyed weekly board game night at home with them.
Her faith kept her strong during her long battle with MS. She is free from the restraints of her earthly body, now able to run with the angels in heaven!
