Helen Calverio of Jessup died Monday October 2, 2017 at the Mid-Valley Healthcare Center following a brief illness. She was the widow of Leonard Calverio who died in 2008, at that time they were married for 67 years.
Born in Olyphant she was the daughter of the late Conrad and Mary Klachany Rutsky. Prior to her retirement Helen and her husband owned and operated Leonard's Flower Shop and greenhouses, Jessup, for more than 35 years. She loved to dance and follow all of the big bands. She and her husband traveled all over the world.
Helen was a proud patriot and she was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and was inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame for having voted consecutively for 50 years at every November election
She was an incredible cook and was a loving mother and grandmother and family always came first. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are daughters Elaine Bloem, Archbald, and Jo Ann Adams and husband Robert, Jermyn; granddaughter Alyssa Adams, Washington, DC; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by son-in-law Alan Bloem; brother Michael Rutsky; sisters Jenny Rutsky, Kay Vizza, Pauline Soyka, Ann Gazdak, and Mary Halsey.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 8:30 A.M. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. at Queen of Angels Parish in St. Michael's Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends and family may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
