Obituary for Philomena "Nell" Tamburelli York

Philomena “Nell” Tamburelli York, 98, passed away January 3, 2018 at the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Nicola Tamburelli and Rosa Pinnacoli Borgna Tamburelli, and was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She graduated from the old Jessup High School in 1936 and worked at the Barbizon in Jessup from many years. She was the widow of Ray York, the owner of Jessup’s landmark “York’s Tavern.”
Nell’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center and to her caregiver Carrie Yaninek for all of their compassionate care.
Mrs. York was pre-deceased by a twin sister, Pearl Tamburelli, and four brothers; Frank Tamburelli, and Gene, Julius, and Ernest Borgna. She is survived by three nephews; David and Elaine Tamburelli, Clifton Park, NY, Francis Tamburelli, Fairfax Station, VA, and Eugene & Karen Borgna, Rockaway, New Jersey, and many grand nephews and nieces.
The funeral will be conducted Friday from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at Queen of Angels Parish in St. Michael's Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup. Friends and family may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home.
