Helene Kowatch Spiegler, formerly of Jessup, died Saturday, May 26, in Southern Hills Hospital, Las Vegas. Her husband, retired Air Force Maj. Martin Spiegler, died in 2005.

Born in Jessup, she was lhe daughter of the late Michael and Anna Fredenchak Kowatch and was a member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Jessup and Our Lady of Wisdom Byzantine Church in Las Vegas.

In her earlier years, Helene was a clothing model in New York City, then moved to California and spent her later years in Las Vegas.

Helene is survived by her niece, Alexandria "Sandi" Capasso, who was more like a daughter to her and was always just a phone call away; a great-nephew, Steven Capasso; a niece, Margaret Kowatch; and her "earth angels" from Las Vegas, Coral and Roy White.

A memorial liturgy with Panachida will be held Wednesday, June 20, at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, First Avenue, Jessup. Interment, parish cemetery, Jessup.
