Obituary for James "Blackie" Caria Jr.

James “Blackie” Caria of Throop died Tuesday December 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Daryl Astolfi who died on June 20, 2016. Born in Throop, he was the son of the late James and Ida Caria.
Surviving are twin daughters Daryllyn Kuzmiak and Denise Caria, and Tina Dutka; grandchildren Justin Dutka and wife Beth, Nicole Persing and husband Adam, Deanna Dutka and companion Alex, Dane Dutka and companion Sarah, and Jamie Kuzmiak; great-grandchildren, Ella, Nora, Jacoby, and twins Aurora and Anduin; brother Richard Caria; brother-in-law George Astolfi and wife Carole; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Michael Kuzmiak.
He retired after 30 years from Penndot. For 68 years, Jim was a member and leader of Throop baseball. He was an original member of the Throop Booster Club, a member of the 1953 VFW World Series Championship team, and President of the Throop Little League for 42 years. He was a proud steward of the game he loved in his community and was excited to share the game with his great-grandson, Jacoby. He was also an avid sportsman who looked forward to his yearly trips to Wyoming.
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 8:30 A.M. from the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony’s Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. Entombment, family mausoleum, in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Blakely. Friends and family may call Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Throop Little League, 2 Mruck St. Throop, PA 18512.
