Obituary for Jean M. Cucura

Jean M. Cucura, 85, a lifelong Jessup resident died Tuesday at the Allied Services Hospice Inpatient Unit, Scranton.
Born in Peckville, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. Sr. and Mary Konick Cucura and attended Jessup High School. A lifelong member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Church in Jessup, for many years she worked tirelessly for the betterment of the church and also was a CCD instructor and member of its Advisory Board. Prior to retirement, she was employed as a journey woman for the Eureka Printing Company, formerly in Jessup.
A special thanks are expressed to Patricia Byran, her angel on earth for her help and care, and to Rose DePietro. Also thanks to Dan and Penny and the staff of Allied Services Hospice Care.
Surviving are son Mark S., and wife Pamela, Kentucky; 2 grandsons, Alexander and Gabriel; sister Mary Ann Weary, Florida; brother Robert B. Cucura, Jessup; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog Tootsie.
She was preceded in death by sister Georgette Musko and 5 brothers, Martin J. Jr., Stephen and wife Marlys, George, Paul, and David Cucura.
A funeral service was held with interment in Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup. A Memorial Liturgy will be celebrated Monday June 29 at 6:30 pm in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, First Avenue, Jessup.
