Obituary for Eugene M. "Gene" Himchak Jr.
Eugene “Gene” M. Himchak Jr., of Jessup died Saturday December 19, 2020 at the Regional Hospital of Scranton following a two year battle with cancer.
Born in Bristol, Connecticut he was the son of the late Eugene M. Sr. and Helen Mann Himchak. A graduate of Mid-Valley High School, Class of 1977, where he excelled in basketball. Prior to his illness he was employed by LBP Manufacturing in Jessup.
An avid sports fan, Gene followed the Baltimore Orioles, LA Rams, and LA Lakers. He was a social member of American Legion Raymond Henry Post #327 and of the Jessup VFW Post #5544.
Gene fought his illness quietly and did what needed to be done without complaint. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are a sister Karen Himchak, Jessup; aunt Dorothy Zinsky, Olyphant; companion of 32 years, Mary Hambke, Olyphant; several cousins in Jessup, Scranton, and Maryland.
Divine Liturgy in Holy Ghost Church Byzantine Catholic Church, Jessup was celebrated by the Rev. John J. Cigan, Pastor. Interment, Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gene’s memory can be made to Holy Ghost Church Byzantine Catholic Church, 313 First Ave., Jessup, PA 18434.
Arrangements were under the care and direction of the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St. Jessup.
