Life Story for Genevieve G. Denicola

Genevieve G. Denicola, 89, of Columbia, Md., formerly of Peckville, died Tuesday at the Gilchrist Hospice Center of Howard County in Maryland, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Denicola, who died Nov. 19, 2010.
Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Sobol. Genevieve was co-owner and operator of Dan’s Market, Peckville, where they ran a successful business for 33 years serving the community of Peckville and surrounding area. Genevieve was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed preparing meals, teaching her grandchildren all of her wonderful Italian and Polish recipes, and spending time with her siblings and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Harmony Hall Assisted Living and Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County, Columbia, Md., for the loving care they provided.
Surviving are children, Ann Hines and husband, Kirk, Columbia, Md.; Mary Ager and husband, Eugene, Springfield, Va.; and Judy Gambucci, Jessup; grandchildren, Ava Gambucci, Danielle, Emma and Brian Ager, Kristopher and Kathryn Hines; brother, Bernard Sobol; Pennelville, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Michael, Fred and Vince; and sisters, Helen and Mary Kolucki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1101 Willow St., Peckville. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Scott Twp. All attending will be required to adhere to social distancing guidelines and face masks will be required.
There will be no public calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Genevieve’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
