Obituary for Mary Ann Cucura
Mary Ann Cucura of Eynon died Saturday at the Geisinger C.M.C. after a brief illness. She was a the the widow of Paul T. Cucura Sr. who died in 2011.
Born in Eynon she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Pauline Suvock Kosik. A graduate of St. Cyril’s Academy in Danville, she went on to earn her degree from Lackawanna Junior College. Prior to retirement she was employed as a bookkeeper and retired from Sears in 2003 after 24 years of service.
There was nothing that brought her more joy than spending time with her “grand angels”. She loved blowing bubbles and teaching them songs and prayers. She believed the best jewels you can have around your neck are the arms of your children.
Surviving are sons Paul Cucura Jr. and wife Susan, Sturges, Brian Cucura and wife Stacey, Cincinnati; daughter Kristen Maritato and husband Michael; South Abington Twp. Grandchildren, Anna, Brielle, Camilla, and Seraphina Cucura, and Misha and Mikey Maritato; brother Stephen Kosik, Eynon. She was preceded in death by sister Christine Bowler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 am in Holy Cross Parish at St. Patrick's Church, 200 Delaware St., Olyphant. Interment in St. Francis Cemetery, Eynon will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends and family may pay their respects Saturday from 9-10 am in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Center Baby Pantry 2010 Adams Ave Scranton.
