Stephen A. Baronski of Peckville died Monday May 17, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. His wife of 42 years is the former Michele Chekansky.

Born in Blakely, he was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Sasfai Baronski. He was educated in the Olyphant schools and was a graduate of Johnson Technical School. He was a well-known cabinet maker who found his passion in his work. The most important thing in Steve’s life was caring for his wife and his sons. He was a lifetime member of Excelsior Hose Company and the Carpenter Local Union #645.

Also surviving are sons Jeff and wife Toni, Clarks Summit, Michael and wife Michele, Peckville, and Stephen and girlfriend Stephanie Gillette, Carbondale; grandchildren Brittany, Jack, Deven and Nikolai; several cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him as “TaTa.”
The family would like to thank the extraordinary Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff.

The funeral will be Friday with Divine Liturgy at 10am in SS. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 River St., Olyphant, to be celebrated by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor. Everyone attending is kindly asked to proceed directly to the church. Interment with Military Honors to follow in Parish Cemetery, Peckville. Friends and family may pay their respects Thursday from 5-7 pm in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

My cousin Steven was one of my first "I wanna be just like him" influences.
He was "COOL" (he had a BB gun) and was sympathetic to my plight.
You see we often visited the old homestead in Olyphant and since they were very close in age Steven, Tony and my brother were the "Three Musketeers". And then there was the much younger me ("Hey guys wait up") trying to tag-along.
Steven would always find an excuse to give me a chance to catch-up, and make sure I was included.
I will always remember and appreciate that about him. (Did I mention he had a BB gun)
Also, I remember that he had a very strong connection with our grandparents and they with him. He was always helping them with whatever they needed.
Love always,

Ron Gillar

Steve was our best man in our wedding and my favorite cousin. He had a great personality and a wonderful smile. His work habits were never questioned, just get it done and do it right, and he did. My younger brother, Larry, sent me a text that said "One of my favorite cousins even though I hadn't seen him in years. Glad I had a chance to talk with him recently. At least he was able to work at what he loved for as long as he could" Ron and Larry Sasfai.....
