Mildred Froncek Sylvester, Greenfield Township, died on May 31, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born on June 22, 1930 to the late Joseph and Margaret Howanitz Froncek. She was married to Frank Sylvester for 66 years at the time of his death on September 6, 2015.
Millie graduated from Jessup High School as Valedictorian of the 1947 class. After graduation she worked at Barbizon of Jessup as supervisor of her department. After the birth of her two sons, she transitioned to a stay-at-home mom until her children went to school. She then worked alongside her husband and in 1972 established the family business, Sylvester Chevrolet, Inc. of Peckville, PA. After retiring, Frank and Millie enjoyed living on their farm, riding horses and training dogs for competition in field trials.
In their younger years, Millie and Frank enjoyed traveling around the world visiting several European countries, Hong Kong, China, India, South Korea, Dubai and the Island of Crete.
Millie enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing, but her favorite times were hosting Sunday dinner for her family. Millie was happiest when she was with her family, watching them grow- from her two sons, then her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always so proud attending dance, gymnastics, school, and sports events of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She dearly loved her family and always put them first. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Millie is survived by her two sons, Neil Sylvester and wife Mary Ann, and Derek Sylvester and wife Regis. Grandchildren Jaime Sylvester, Ryan Sylvester and wife Melissa, and Ashley Gillette and husband Richard. Step Grandchildren Sean Joseph Rist, Kayci Brosky and husband Stephen, Karli Kordish and fiancé Joseph Berardelli. Great-Grandchildren Rocco, Aidyn and Natalie Sylvester, Richard Gillette IV, Sophia and Stephen Brosky. Sister Mary Ann Suche and husband Stephen. Brother-in-law Robert Sylvester. Godchild Rev. Ronald Barusefski. And a close family friend, Louis Fiorelli Jr., who she considered like a third son.
Besides her husband and parents, Millie was preceded in death by her beloved grandson Kyle Sylvester, brother John Froncek and wife Mary, her husband’s parents Frank Sr. and Ellen Sylvester, brother-in-law John Sylvester and wife Rosemary; sister-in-law Joan Sylvester, nieces Leigh Star and Grace King, and nephew Frank G. Sylvester.
Millie was a life long Parishioner of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church
The funeral will be conducted Friday at 9:00 am in the Arthur A. Albini Funeral Home, 1003 Church St., Jessup with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 AM in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 313 1st Ave., Jessup. Entombment in the family mausoleum will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends and Family may pay their respects Thursday, from 5 – 7 PM in the funeral home. Parastas service will be held Thursday at 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 313 1st Ave., Jessup, PA 18434.
