Mary Stefin, 92, Peckville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 7, 2017.
Mary was born in Jessup on May 10, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Maria Macci Paolucci. Upon graduating Jessup High School, she was employed by Barbizon clothing company, as well as Automation Components Inc. Mary was active in the Peckville Public School No. 1 Parent-Teacher Association, and was a devout and highly active member of St. Mary’s Assumption Church, Jessup, until its closing. Most recently, she was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. She was an honorary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Shopa-Davey Post No. 6082 in Peckville.
Mary was married to Joseph Stefin and would have celebrated their 72nd anniversary in October. She was a dedicated mother to her two children, and grandchildren, to whom she was known as ‘Noni’. Mary's many talents extended to homemaking and cooking; she was particularly known for her phenomenal Italian cuisine. Always cheerful, Mary loved to entertain those around her through singing and dancing, and was always the life of the party.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Stefin; son, Kenneth Stefin; daughter, Cindy Wilson and husband, John; grandsons, John and Tyler; sister, Ann Sewitsky; brother, Arthur Paolucci and wife, Margaret; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by brothers Constantino, George, Alexander, Larry, Fred, Alfredo, Silvio, and sisters, Rosa Paolucci, and Marcelia Paolucci Nemerovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, September 15th at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 1101 Willow Street, Peckville. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Jessup. Friends and family may pay their respects on Friday, September 15th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the Foundation for Cancer Care C/O Delta Media 225 Penn Ave. Scranton, PA 18503, or to The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children 537 Venard Rd. South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
